What is Gluten?
Gluten is a group of protein that is found in grains, such as wheat, barley, rye, and a cross between wheat and rye called triticale. Gluten proteins have low nutritional and biological value, and the grains that contain gluten are not essential in the human diet. However, an unbalanced selection of food and an incorrect choice of gluten-free replacement products may lead to nutritional deficiencies.
Learn About Gluten
What does Gluten Do?
Gluten may cause both gastrointestinal and systemic symptoms for those with gluten-related disorders, including coeliac disease (CD), non-coeliac gluten sensitivity (NCGS), gluten ataxia, dermatitis herpetiformis (DH), and wheat allergy in some people.
Is Gluten Safe to consume/eat?
Gluten is safe for most people but people with conditions like celiac disease, wheat allergy or gluten sensitivity should avoid it to prevent adverse health effects. Many crops and foods are made with gluten-containing ingredients. So, it is better to look for Gluten free diets if Gluten is not safe to eat for you.

What is Gluten Free Diet?
A Gluten Free Diet (GFD) is a diet that strictly excludes gluten, which is a mixture of proteins found in wheat, barley and rye. A gluten-free diet helps manage symptoms of celiac disease and other medical conditions associated with gluten.
What is Celiac Disease?
Celiac disease is a serious autoimmune disease that occurs in genetically predisposed people where the ingestion of gluten leads to damage in the small intestine. Over time, the immune reaction to eating gluten creates inflammation that damages the small intestine’s lining, leading to medical complications. It also prevents absorption of some nutrients
If you have coeliac disease you will have to avoid gluten for life. A gluten free diet is the only treatment for the condition.
