Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment.
By staying aware about Coronavirus spread, you can protect yourself, your family and friends. Awareness also helps in spreading this disease to others.
How is CoronaVirus Covid-19 Transmitted?
Mainly COVID-19 transmission is through respiratory droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. Droplets that settle on the eyes, nose, or mouth of a person in close proximity leads to the transmission of infection. These droplets are too heavy to hang in the air, and quickly fall on floors or surfaces.
Transmission Coronavirus can also occur by touching the face with contaminated hands. Respiratory droplets do not remain suspended in the air for long; hence, a distance of six feet away from an infected person may be considered safe.
Coronavirus may contaminate metal, glass, or plastic surfaces that may remain there for several hours to days. Contact with such contaminated surfaces (also known as fomites) and subsequent transfer to the face by touch may also be an important mode of transmission.
How you can get infected by Corona Virus?

- Coming into contact with a person who is already carrying corona virus
- Coming into contact with any object which contains the coronavirus and then touching your nose or mouth
How to protect yourself from Corona virus?
In this times of Covid 19 outbreak which is now pandemic and effecting the whole world it is better to take preventive measures. As the vaccine is yet to invented against coronavirus, prevention is better than cure.
Here we have listed few measures by which you can avoid getting coronavirus.

Stay Home, Stay Safe
Stay home as much as possible and reduce visitors. Avoid any visitors, guests, friends to enter your home. Suspect everyone as Corona Virus carrier.
Keep Social Distancing

Maintain a safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing. Keep atleast 1.5 mts distance from everyone, avoid any physical contact. When someone coughs, sneezes, or speaks they spray small liquid droplets from their nose or mouth which may contain virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the droplets, including the COVID-19 virus if the person has the disease.
Wash your hands frequently

Make sure you wash your hands for about 20 seconds with soap and water, massage the backs of the hands, between your fingers and under your nails. In the absence of soap and water, you can use an alcohol-based sanitiser, where the alcohol content is at least 60-95%. Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.
Use Alcohol based Sanitizer
If you are travelling outside or there is no option for washing hand with water and soap, then use Hand Sanitizer. Try to minimize the use of hand santizers by wearing gloves.

Stop Shaking Hands
Learn new ways of greeting people. Avoid shaking hands, cheeck pecks or hugs when you greet people.
Do not share personal items like pen, laptop, phones, makeup or combs. It is also important not to share eating utensils and straws. Teach children to recognize their reusable cup, straw, and other dishes for their own use only.
Wear a Mask

Cover your nose and mouth with mask, cloth whenever you are going outside. When you are removing the protective covers, start with the glove first and immediately wash your hands.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses wherever you touch. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and infect you. Its better to wash hands before you touch your body parts or eat something.
Avoid Close Contact with Infected People
Avoid close contact with people who are corona infected or showing the symptoms of coronavirus, even inside your home. If possible, maintain 6 feet between the person who is sick and other household members.
Clean and Disinfect Surfaces
Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, toys, desks, furniture, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks. Use alcohol-based disinfectants to clean hard surfaces in your home.
Wash/Disinfect Fresh Groceries, Vegetables
Disinfect areas after you bring groceries or packages into your home. Soak all raw, whole fruits and vegetables in a solution of food-grade hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar. Let dry before putting them away in your fridge and cupboards. You can also use vegetable antibacterial wash to clean produce. Wash your hands before and after handling fresh produce.
Note: If you are going out for grocery shopping, then try to choose non-peak hours. It will help you to avoid crowd and long queues.
Avoid eating or drinking in public places
For the time being you can avoid going to restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and other eateries. The virus can be transmitted through food, utensils, dishes, and cups. It may also be airborne from other people in the venue whether service providers or people coming over there.
Still want to eat restaurant food, then you order online. Choose foods that are thoroughly cooked and can be reheated, consume them hot or reheat before eating. It is advisable to avoid cold foods from restaurants and all food from buffets and open salad bars.
Avoid Going to Crowded Places
You can avoid going to places such as Malls, Movie Theaters, Sports Complex or Stadiums, Religious places or any other event where you can find crowd. Avoid large events and mass gatherings. It is better not to visit crowded places, as you are more likely to come into close contact with someone that has COIVD-19 and it is more difficult to maintain physical distance of 1 metre (3 feet) in such crowded places.
Avoid Travelling (if possible)
Avoid all kinds of non-essential travels. Try to avoid being exposed to the crowded public transport and public places. In case you cannot avoid travel, then make sure to cover your nose and mouth with a mask and carry an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, at all times. Do sanitize each time you touch a surface, as Covid-19 strain can stay on surfaces for a few hours to days.
Work from Home (if Possible)
Ask your employer if it is possible to work from home. You can use many free or paid Video Calling services for meetings, webinars.
Be Alert and Proactive
Be alert for Covid symptoms. Watch out for fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of COVID-19. Try for basic medications first (by consulting doctor) and if it doesn’t get better then go for the Corona Virus Test. If you feel that you’re getting the symptoms of COVID-19, then you should seek early medical help. Also, don’t forget to share your travel history with your doctor.
